About Southwest Airlines Credit
Southwest Airlines issues Flight Credit when customers cancel their booking. This Flight Credit can then be used to book a future flight with the airline. It is also tied with the booking confirmation number of the flight the customer canceled. Southwest Airlines issues Flight Credit on all four of its fare types – Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, and Business Select fares. Since the Wanna Get Away fare type is non-refundable, when you cancel the booking you won’t be eligible for a cash refund but a Flight Credit shall be issued.
Do Southwest Flight Credits Expire?
It is essential to note that Flight Credits do indeed expire after a certain time period. The expiration period depends on the payment the customer had used to make their flight reservation. If you had made your reservation using Credit Card or Gift Card, the Flight Credit shall be eligible to use for up to 12 months from the date the ticket was booked. For bookings made using Southwest LUV Voucher, the Flight Credit will expire on the same day as the expiration date of the LUV Voucher.
If you had used Flight Credit itself to make the original booking, the re-issued Flight Credit shall adopt the expiration date of the original Flight Credit. For example, if you booked a flight on January 1 using Flight Credit which was supposed to expire on January 30, and then proceeded to cancel the booking, the re-issued Flight Credit will have the January 30 expiration date.
